Passwords
Dearborn students are provided with access to two systems, each with its own password.
- Kerberos Password - access to your Dearborn Home Directory, on-line CTools database, and the UMOD in Ann Arbor.
- Dearborn Password - access to Email and lab access for the ITS, SOM, CASL, and SOE computer labs.
GUIDELINES FOR CHOOSING A PASSWORD
A good password should be at least eight characters long and contain MIxeD cAsE letters, numbers, and punctuation. Passwords should be something you can easily remember, yet hard for someone else to guess. Picking letters from a phrase that's meaningful to you may be the source for a good password. In this way, your password is really a "pass phrase." ("A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" could be ARbyAoNWSaS.)
WHEN TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD(S)
If you have had the same password for more than 6 months, have visited another city or campus and logged onto a system there, or if your password does not meet current standards you should change your password(s).
