Oracle Calendar
Oracle Calendar is very similar to Netscape Calendar in look and functionality. However, Oracle Calendar does have a search feature, which will allow users to find similar types of meetings, or individuals invited to meetings. As with Netscape Calendar, Oracle Calendar also relies on icons to display options such as reminders, attachments, notes, etc.
LOGIN:
- Type in your uniqname or full name.
- Type in your Dearborn or Email password.
- Click Sign-in.
NOTE: Those who had Netscape Calendar access were automatically given access to Oracle Calendar. However, access for everyone else is not automatic. If you wish to have access to Oracle Calendar, please send an email to helpdesk@umd.umich.edu.
IN-TRAY:
The In-tray is the first screen to open in Oracle Calendar and allows you to keep track of group meetings that you have been invited to and those that you have invited another user to. Once you are done with the In-tray it is suggested that you close it. The Agenda lies just beneath the In-tray.
NOTE: The In-Tray can be disabled at start-up by going to Tools>Options>General>Startup.
IN-TRAY TOOLBAR:

AGENDA:
The agenda is where you keep track of all your meetings, tasks, notes and events. You can view your agenda by the day, week or month.

MEETINGS:
To set-up a new meeting you can click on the time you wish to start on your Agenda, or Click on the New Meeting button in the Agenda toolbar.
The New Meeting screen has many options including being able to invite others to a particular meeting, making a meeting a repeating meeting such as weekly staff meetings, setting reminder alarms, adding all the pertinent files pertaining to a meeting, making notes relating to the meeting, and keeping track of the responses from each invited user. Once a meeting has been added to your calendar, you can Click on the meeting in the Agenda to reopen the meeting screen.
NOTE: When you set-up a meeting, don’t forget to include travel time. Events you actually plan to attend, Vacation, doctors appointments or anything else that requires time should be added to your calendar so other folks will know that you’re not available when they are scheduling meetings.
TASKS:
Tasks are those things that you need to keep track of that have deadlines. This area will allow you to keep track of your progress, keep all the pertinent files and notes in one place, and keep track of items that are due from other people. As you have telephone conversations you can keep track of what transpired when.
EVENTS:
You can keep track of events that you would like to attend if you have time. Obviously, if you actually plan to attend an event you would add it as a meeting so time is blocked on your calendar.
NOTES:
Notes can be those things that you just need to be reminded of – calls to make, errands to run, etc.
