SOM/COB Name Change in Typo3
In conjunction with plans for the School of Management name change to College of Business, ITS will implement global changes on web pages within the campus Typo3 content management system (CMS). ITS will also facilitate url redirects from www.som.umd.umich.edu www.cob.umd.umich.edu for all links on the campus website. These changes will be conducted the evening of Tuesday June 30, 2009. During the maintenance period, you will not be able to login and update any web pages on the Typo3 system. However, all campus web sites and services will remain fully available, including UM-Dearborn Connect.
A number of specific text elements (listed below) have been identified for global search and replace in Typo3. While they are not comprehensive, they are expected to identify approximately 90% of the required changes in the CMS database, HTML templates, CSS files, and other Typo3 support files.

Occurences of "som" will not be changed since it is found in many common words, and might result in "something" being changed to "cobething" or "handsome" being changed to "handcobe". In addition, changes are not being made within .pdf files, .doc files, news items, and data previously collected in online forms.
Once the global changes are completed, content owners and site publishers will need to carefully review all changes to their web pages and links and make additional updates as necessary. Campus websites outside the Typo3 content management system will not be affected by these global changes, and will need to edit their content to reflect the new College of Business.
