New U-Print Service Coming in Winter 2013

Beginning in Winter 2013 term, registered UM-Dearborn students are able to print up to 500 pages free per term (Winter, Fall, Spring/Summer) on the new U-Print system. U-Print provides a standard printing service for students in all schools and colleges. It replaces the variety of different quotas that were previously used.

What does this mean for students?

U-Print is a new networked printing service that will allow students to print up to 500 pages free (black/white).  Each term, registered students will be allocated a quota that can be used in all campus labs and the library.  It also includes the FollowU feature, which lets them send their printing to a cloud-based print server where it will be held until they release it at one of the designated printers across campus.

How does U-Print work?

Every term that students enroll in classes, they will be credited with $25 on the U-Print system.  Each time they print from a lab or library computer, their account will be debited $.05 for black/white or $.30 for color pages.  They can release work immediately to a printer in the lab where they are located.  Or they can hold it in the FollowU cloud server and release it later that day at any of the U-Print printers located throughout the campus.  If they need to add more printing to their account, it can be done quickly on the web with a credit card or they can add funds at the Cashier's Office.

You will be hearing more about this, and instructions will be available on the ITS website.
