Mail Group Management
- Open a web browser such as Mozilla, Netscape, or Internet Explorer..
- In the URL or location field type directory.umd.umich.edu/ds/search.
- When the "University of Michigan-Dearborn Directory Services" page appears, click on the Authentication button.
4. The following screen will appear. Type in your Uniqname. Click on Continue.
5. The following screen will appear. Type in your Dearborn password. Click Continue
6. The following screen will appear confirming your authentication. Click on Standard Search.
7. The following screen will appear. Next to Find, select Groups from the drop-down menu. Next to Search For, enter the first name of the group you want to change. Click Search. If you type in a partial name, you will be given a list of groups to choose from that have the partial name in their title. In the following example, we want to find all Groups with "ITS" in their name. Select the group you wish to change from the list.
8. The group you selected will appear. Please note that you must be listed as an owner in order to make changes. Click the Edit Group button.
9. The following screen will appear showing the various areas that can be edited. Click the Edit button under Group Members in order to add new members or delete old members that have UM-Dearborn email addresses. If you wish to add names of people who do not have UM-Dearborn email addresses - each address must be typed in the List of CC Recipients field.
10. The following screen will appear. Type in the name of the person you wish to add in the field to the left of the Find and Add button. Click Find and Add. If you wish to remove someone from the list - find their name in the list and click on the checkbox next to the name. Caution: When selecting the name of the person you wish to delete from the list, you will not be asked to confirm the deletion. The name will automatically be deleted when you check the box. Once all changes have been made, click the Save Changes button.
Helpful Hints: Have the person's uniqname handy. You can search on the uniqname which will save you time and will insure that you have the correct person added to your list. Be sure to check the number of people listed before you add a name to be sure only one name has been added. All additions are added at the bottom of the list so you can check to make sure the addition is correct.
11. The following screen will appear. Click Save Changes and all the changes you just made will appear on the screen and will be added to the system. From this screen, you can click Cancel to search for another group that you wish to change.
Note: You will not be able to delete any groups. If there are groups that need to be deleted, notify the ITS Helpdesk.
12. When your changes are complete, close the browser window to exit the Dearborn mail group management application.
