Logging In
The ITS computer labs are available to all students, faculty and staff at UM-Dearborn. When logging in, you will need to authenticate by entering your uniqname and Dearborn password. Once logged in, you can click on desktop icons to perform a variety of functions.
- My Documents - opens your H: drive, where you can store files, including those used to set up your personal web site.
- Mozilla Firefox - Default Internet browser and mail client. (Offers better features and functionality.)
- Mozilla Thunderbird Mail - opens your UM-Dearborn mailbox and folders (requires Dearborn password)
- Office 2003 - to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Publisher
- Secure FTP - for uploading your files
- Dearborn Password - to update your personal information on UM-Dearborn’s online directory
- Kerberos Password - change the Kerberos password for use on Ctools and SFTP.
Your Home Directory
All students are assigned 1 Gb of space (H: drive) on University servers for storage of your personal files and web pages. You can access them on campus and from home.
- On Campus - Available from ITS, SOE, SOM, and CASL computer labs.
- Off Campus –Available with an Internet connection and a secure login method, such as SSH, SCP, or SFTP. You can download free SFTP/SSH software.
