Spam Folder
Probable SPAM that is delivered to your UM-Dearborn mailbox is placed into a folder named "Spam". This folder should be visible through Webmail or your favorite mail program, it just requires IMAP. The default in webmail is to show the Spam Folder in your list of folders. However, in the Thunderbird email client, you may have to subscribe to the Spam Folder:
- Open Thunderbird
- Right click on your mailbox
- Select Subscribe

- The list of folders available for subscription will appear.

- Check the box next to the Spam folder.
- Click OK.
You should check this folder once a week for misidentified SPAM, since we will be deleting old messages to preserve space.
If the Spam folder does not appear in Webmail you probably have a preference checked under options that prevents it.
- Open Webmail

- Click on your Mailbox
- Click Options in the Menu
- Select Server and Folder Information
- Uncheck the box
- Click OK
If you still need assistance please contact the Helpdesk.
PLEASE NOTE: The SPAM folder is different from the JUNK folder. Junk is what is created by the user themselves and ITS did not wish to confuse the users by having strange messages show up that's caught by ITS's SPAM filters.
