Software Support

ITS provides assistance to the UM-Dearborn community with software for offices and computer labs. ITS also coordinates the sale of discounted Microsoft products to faculty, staff, and students.

Software Image: ITS has developed a standard software image for use in offices on campus, which includes the latest upgrades and patches. The image integrates the software with critical campus systems such as NT and Banner. ITS offers two versions of the software image - NT for campus computers and Windows 98 for employees working at home. Because of the high demand, there is a nominal fee to load the image on home PCs. ITS only supports the standard image, and strongly encourage offices on campus to take advantage of this service. It helps prevent many common problems, and ITS can provide you with much quicker and better support. ITS Computer Labs: ITS has developed a standard software image that is loaded on machines in our computer labs located in the Mardigian Library and Computing Wing. In addition to many popular software products, it includes academic software required for classes on campus. For more information on the labs, including a list of available software, click here.

Site Licenses: ITS purchases many software products for use by departments and computer labs on campus. We also coordinate university site licenses with UofM-Ann Arbor. For more information, email software.licenses@umd.umich.edu or call us at (313) 593-4999.

AntiVirus Software: McAffee VirusScan and AntiSpyware software is included in the ITS standard image. This software can be updated on-line to get current patches needed to combat the latest viruses. For additional information on the latest viruses, hoaxes and recommendations, check out UM's Virus Busters web site.
It can also be downloaded free of charge to by faculty, staff, and students of the Dearborn campus.

Microsoft Sales: The University has established a licensing agreement with Microsoft that provides the campus community with excellent discounts on some of their products! Schools and departments can order directly from Procurement Services. Faculty, staff, and students can purchase the software for home from ITS. For more information, visit our web page.

Mathematica: Students can purchase a copy of Mathematica for home use for $30. Mathematica is a program used extensively in Calc I, II, & III.  Licenses for this software on 6/28 each year. Call the ITS Helpdesk for more information. 313.593.HELP.

Minitab:  ITS has a license with Minitab Inc. to provide its Minitab® software to eligible students, faculty, and staff of the University of Michigan - Dearborn campus. Visit our web page to download the software free of charge.
