Home Directories
What are Home Directories?
All faculty, staff, and students at University of Michigan-Dearborn are provided with access to home directories on the AFS File Sharing System . Home directories offer file space for document storage and web publishing, 24 hour backup services and a drop box for file sharing.
- Home directories are created within 24 hours after the UM Dearborn email access has been created.
- Students have 1 GB of storage space
- Employees (regular/non-student) receive a maximum of 3 GB of storage space
- Home Directories can be accessed from computers on campus, the wireless network, and from off campus using an SFTP/SSH (secure shell) client.
- The UMICH (kerberos) password is used to access home directories
Accessing AFS Home Directories
Home directories can be access both on campus and from off campus. Off campus access requires the use of a secure file transfer application such as ssh, scp or sftp.
