Computers & Software
ITS provides computer and software assistance to much of the UM-Dearborn community.
- The department performs troubleshooting and repairs for installed equipment in areas it supports.
- We offer recommendations on purchasing hardware and software for offices and computer labs, and can help process the transactions for your department.
- We configure new computers and install the standard ITS software image.
- We coordinate campus and University software licensing.
- We handle sales of discounted Microsoft products to faculty, staff, and students.
Support Services we DO provide:
- Hardware/software troubleshooting and support for office desktop machines [There are some systems with proprietary components that we cannot troubleshoot and repair.]
- Hardware/software troubleshooting and support for work-related laptops
- Minor printer troubleshooting (i.e., paper jam, connectivity)
- Installation of standard software image on PCs provided by the University for home use.
- Troubleshooting and support of ITS-supported servers
- Hardware purchasing recommendations
- PC network connectivity
- Network printer connectivity
- Webpage space and access
Support Services we DO NOT provide:
- Hardware and software troubleshooting, support and repair of non-ITS servers
- Hardware troubleshooting and repair of desktop machines in areas not supported by ITS
- Printer or other peripheral repair
- Home PC hardware/software support
- Webpage editing, support and/or training
- Personal consulting
- Relocating equipment and moving furniture within offices
- Apple computer support, recommendations or connectivity
- Non-University software support and/or training
